An atheist opens the Bible and learns how to work a crime scene. CREDITS: ———— WRITTEN, EDITED & POORLY ANIMATED by 43alley AUDIO: The classic Scourbey audio recording of the Bible (a minimal excerpt from a 70+ hour recording) – all utilized for educational, critical, parody and non-commercial use under the Fair Use Doctrine, Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, 510 US 569 (1994), etc. This narration is available for download on various websites as well all across youtube. TEXT: II Deuteronomy Chapter 21, verses 1 through 9. However, I left out verse 5: “21:5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried.” I found that passage boring to animate, plus I don’t think it added anything to the rules. Please feel free to disagree.

43 , yes thats a positive attitude its just i wonder how to get thru. the truth can be right in front of someone but still cant see it. i really think its emotion that gets in the way. ppl get protective of ideals as part of themselves their ego. so they fight even when they kno they cud be wrong

My approach is to just keep showing them stuff they didn’t know was there. Do it enough times, and maybe something in their life will remind them that they are only getting a spoon-fed version.
With this video, maybe the next time they see The 10 Commandments in a courthouse they will remember this story.
If a religious person actually reads the Bible, he has to do one of two things: discard it or try to explain everything away. There are few moderate Christians familiar with the Bible.

But this is gods words, so therefore universal, and should still apply. Gods words apply in all times, and all places!

Leviticus teaches that apart from the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. There is incredible symbolism here with respect to “individual” and “nation” but you will not see it if you do not first see the logic of removing the possibility of being “tainted” in the Eyes of God (eyes is clearly anthropomorphic).
I see incredible meaning where you say there is no meaning…
If there IS meaning, then perhaps one should pray to remove the blindness as to be able to see it…

The video brings up a good point. Maybe stuff like this should be displayed in court houses. Most people are ignorant of what the Bible says and they have an idealized mythical notion of what it says. Maybe seeing it displayed will open their eyes to how ridiculous is God’s Law.

LOL because that would involve the use of SCIENCE
May 14th, 2010 @2:41 am
Because Gods are as stupid as the people who create them.

Rather then just pointing fingers they acknowledged that they had no evidence but sought legal damages instead. (live stock = money back then) Its actually quite an advanced concept that we still use today. (just with money and not animals)
Again I love every other video in this series and am agnostic/atheist. I just disagree with this video from an anthropological stand point.

Lol good point. Probably because hes not real. I gave all the other videos in this series 5 stars BTW so I’m not hating. To clarify I was defending the idea of them using an animal to appease the family of the victims to keep them from just choosing the person they just didn’t like and saying “look hes weird he must have done it!” I think of all the fucked up shit in the bible this is by far the most forgivable. Even commendable.

why didn’t god teach them forensics?
May 23rd, 2010 @6:30 am
I love all your videos. There all funny and logical. But I have to say for this video I think you were kind of stretching it. There simply were no forensics back then so this was the best they could do to avoid the family of the slain man taking vigilantly justice on anyone they felt like pegging the crime on.
Love your vids BTW! keep it up

@vonstoogan
It’s interesting that the story of Jesus is the story of God’s ultimate scapegoat. But one what basis would you think this is justice?
May 26th, 2010 @2:25 pm
too bad there is no god
May 29th, 2010 @5:58 pm
clearly your god likes to waste people’s time in meaningless rituals while saving the pleasure of punishing the guilty for himself. and yet he commands murder for all sorts of other offenses for which the offender is known to man. quite baffling isn’t it?
fortunately it all makes perfect sense if there is no god.
May 30th, 2010 @7:20 am
No crime goes unpunished. And if there is a crime that goes unpunished in this liftime and God has to deal with you face to face you better be worried. Nothing can compare with the punishment one will face for unforgiven sin/crimes.
May 30th, 2010 @4:16 pm
so god should just keep his mouth shut and let the family and friends of the victim go on never knowing who killed him and for why? That sounds like a pretty unloving god.
June 2nd, 2010 @12:37 am
And what is that basic forensic knowledge? Ultimately God knows who killed that person and though they may not find punishment in this life they would surely have it when they stand before God.
