2 timothy 3:16 tells us that all scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving and for setting things straight. so, we use all the Bible today.

Yes it is the word of God. Moses spoke to God and wrote the 5 books of the old testement.

Neither is the “word of god” because god doesn’t exist. Christians use the Old Testament as a vague means of justification of the New Testament, but actually follow the New Testament.

in the “new testament” jesus tells his follows to follow the jewish bible, the tanakh (almost the same as the “old testament”) … those who do not follow the tanakh, do not do as jesus told them to do, and thus are not “true christians”

The Old Testament takes place before the birth of Christ. The New Testament takes place after the birth of Christ. They are both considered to be the word of God. The Christian Bible is both the old and new testament. The Jewish Torah is just the Old Testament.

The Old Testement and the New Testement are both the word of God.Some parts of the Old Testament are canceled out if you want to use that expression, because when Jesus came he took our sins so we don’t need to sacrifice anymore. But other parts we still need to realize that they do indeeed apply to our life today.

The bible is not all complete. Any Christian that tell you that the bible is complete is a lie since stories have been removed from the bible. The bible we do have is part of the truth but not the full truth. What we do have as far as the old and the new, well let’s just say, it’s a little shaky. If you read the book of Matthew and Mark you will learn that the books were written by authors who know one knows for sure who wrote these two books. Matthew and Mark were credited for the books, but no one actually know who wrote them.

Both are Man’s attempt to understand God’ Will. Man is imperfect, therefore both both Testaments are imperfect. The more so by benefit of poor translations and clerical errors of time.

Okay well here’s my thing. Unlike a lot of other Chritian religions, I’m Church of Christ. Church of Christ believes in practicing values from the New Testament and learning from the Old Testament. So Church of Christ has no instruments and we sing with only the voice. I love the Church of Christ. But many people think that I don’t believe in the Old Testament I do, but we’re only supposed to learn from it cuz clearly we don’t get stoned to death for sinning anymore.

Edit: and they are both the word of God, but the New Testament is when Jesus came and walked the Earth. So laws changed and that is why Church Of Christ uses the New Testament in life

The old testament is the revelation of God as He revealed Himself to us His laws were to condemn us so that we would realize how much we need his grace and His love His greatest commandment in the new testament tells us all how to be saved “Love thy God with all thy heart, soul and mind.” also love thy neighbor as thy self if we carry out these two it would be hard to break the rest so yes the old testament is God’s word

Of course the Old Testament is the Word of God.

As a Christian, the Holy Spirit leads me into the Old Testament to teach me…
2 timothy 3:16 All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving and for setting things straight.

And Jesus said before going to the cross at the communion, “Drink this cup of the fruit of the vine. This is my blood of the New Testament that is shed for many for remission of sins.’.

So the Christians are part of the New Testament or New Covenant. We are redeemed when we receive Jesus shed blood for remission of our sins. We are born of Gods Spirit since our sins are atoned for. Our hearts are changed (circumcised) with the love of God. Where God writes His love laws on our hearts. Where we sing a new love song from our hearts to the heart of God.

So in the New Testament, we learn from the Old Testament as well. The Old Testament was a shadow of the things to come.
Like the 7th day of the week was the Old Testament Sabbath. Plus the Sabbath of the 8th Day, or the 7week Sabbath & 50th Day, or the year of Jubilee (7thyr rest).
To the Christian, these are very important meaningful shadows of the Holiday or Sabbath of abiding in Christ. Where when our hearts are restored with the Father, we are abiding in Christ love & word. This is entering Gods rest and this is our Sabbath.

When people go back to the law of the Old Testament, then they lose the liberty that was provided for us in Christ.
We are no longer under the law of sin & death. We are under the law of liberty; We are under Grace (the gift of God).

Both OT and NT are The Word of God.

The OT is PROPHETIC. its purpose is to FORTELL of the need for a Messiah. the OT tells us WHAT the Messiah is, what he will do, and how he will die.

All those old laws and stuff in the Old Testament POINT TO THE NEED FOR JESUS. The bible teaches that anyone who breaks even the least of these laws has in effect broken them all. It is NOT possible for someone to live his life without breaking at least ONE of these laws.

The bible teaches that breaking any of these laws is sin, and the wages of sin is death. There are no “levels” of punishment — if you sin, you die.

And ALL persons sin!

Therefore, the purpose of the laws in the Old Testament is not to tell us HOW TO LIVE, but to show us how it is IMPOSSIBLE to live up to the standards that God set!

WHAT DO WE DO!?!?! If getting into Heaven means not breaking any laws, then NO ONE can get to Heaven because no one can live a life without breaking at least one tiny little law.

God knew this, and His plan is simple: He sent his son to take on that punishment, death, that is due to US for breaking even the tiniest of laws! In taking OUR punishment upon Himself, Jesus provides forgivensss.

And Jesus’ forgiveness is unconditional. He did NOT die just for Christians. He did NOT die for those Old Testament saints who went before him. He died for ALL sins for ALL mankind for ALL time.

Which of your sins did Jesus forgive? Jesus died LONG before you were born. He did NOT say He forgive ONLY the sins you did before you knew Him. hHe e did NOT say that He would forgive only the sins that you commit AFTER you knew Him. No! He forgave ALL of your sins! An my sins, and all of the sins for all mankind.

God ask ONLY that you believe He did so. God wants you to believe that Jesus died to forgive ALL of your sins, and God wants you to thank Jesus for that.

Because, by taking on the punishment for your sins, Jesus allows YOU to enter Heaven under His name. When you die, your soul will go to the presence of God. sitting at God’s right hand will be His Son, Jesus. Jesus will look at the unbeleiver and say , “Away from me, you evil doer! I knew you not!”, and the only place that is “away” from jesus is Hell!

But to those that believe in Him, God will look at you and me and see His Son Jesus! God will see how Jesus allowed His blood to be spilled for OUR benefit. And God Himself will give the Believer free entry into Heaven! The Believer is thus SAVED from God’s awful wrath.

The New Testament, then, tells us the story of Jesus’ life (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Paul, Peter, John, and others then tell us how to apply Jesus’ life style and teachings to our every day life.

Christians thus follow the New Testament as an example of living a godly life. Jeuss forgave ALL our sins, and thus the laws of the Old Testament do not apply to the Believer. this is called the New Covenant of Grace.

yet, we still follow some of the Old Testament laws. But in this case we follow them not becasue we ara afraid of punishment , but because we are THANKFUL that Jesus saves us from the punishment . We follow, or not, the OT because we WANT TO, not because we HAVE TO.

Five Books of Moses = Torah, 24 Books of the Hebrew Bible including the Torah which is called the Tanach. The Hebrew Bible was closed for additions around 300 bce when the Prophet Ezra and the Great Assembly of sages and scholars had it published in Aramaic for the general Jewish population. The Torah was given directly to Moses by God Himself, the Written Torah by day, Oral Torah by night with the esoteric knowledge. The Dead Sea Scrolls Hebrew Bible they discovered (Muslims and Catholics had it before they would let the Jewish scholars even see it), is over 350 years old and is the same one used today around the globe by Jews everywhere, no changes, no additions, no subtractions, for faking it, and shows that it was Isaac that went to the mountain with his dad Abraham, not Ishmael like Muslims try to say, it also has no mention of any messiah becoming a god-son, actually, the World-to-Come will be ushered in by two great scholars that do not ask anyone to change the law, one will die in battle (the last one we will see), and the other will become a real King, from human parents and no greater than Moses (Musa). God-Fearers have been around since time of Noah, thus the Noah Precepts are for all those not Jewish to be righteous (7 laws), without converting to any religion, and also have a share in the World-to-Come regardless of creed, race or gender with no need for missionaries. So the Hebrew Bible is for the Jews and the Noah Precepts from the scholars of the Torah are the guides, even today. God-Fearers come to Yom Kippur services and other holidays to the various learning centers or synagogues, and aren’t asked to be Jewish, and work side-by-side with religious Jews. You will find the Noah laws in the NT in the book of acts. You will find all the Jewish stuff done by Jesus is still done today except we don’t have the Third Temple yet. Jesus even sent people to be checked by the priests and take an offering, even Paul brought an offering, and Jesus not only had his bar mitzvah, but celebrated Pesach Shani. Peter and James discussed much of the issues of the Noah Precepts and circumcision is not required for God-Fearers unless you can trace your lineage through your mother’s mother, to Hagar or Sarah, which Islam can’t. But in the NT Tim had to be circumcized by Paul because Timothy’s mom was Jewish (as Tim got his Jewish soul via mom), but his dad, being Greek, made Tim a Greek. Noah Precepts are not for Jews to follow as God-Fearers as Paul wanted them to think. Jews have their own as found in their Hebrew Bible and there aren’t many of them that can be done today until the Third Temple is here. Christians need to follow the 7 Laws and do not need churches but good study groups and classes to help Jews become religious and non-Jews be righteous regardless of their race or creed. See Chabad.org for info on Noahites, see many websites on this too,
