Jonah 1: 1-3 Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai saying; Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me; But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

Jonah, we all know his story. Heard about it. Talked about it. Pondered it. Jonah. We all know a Jonah, or two. As a matter of fact Jonah could be you. Jonah Running. Running from God. Running from his (your) God given assignment.

Nineveh: The place he was running from. The assignment God gave him.

Tarshish: The place he was running to. The roadmap he gave himself.

Where is your Nineveh? Your Tarshish? What assignment has God given you? Instead of obeying you’ve ran away from it; to your Tarshish. To your make believe safe haven; from God. Do you really think He doesn’t see, know or perceive what you are doing? How much longer are you going to run? How much longer are you going to stay in the whale’s belly of God’s correction?

Your Nineveh; Has God called you to:

Preach, Evangelize, Minister, Serve? Exhort his name in praise through song, writings, teachings, music? Serve Christian men and women with your wisdom and knowledge of finances, business, law or medicine? Go into the prisons, broken homes, abused children, hurting individuals? Step out on faith; to obey and do?

Your Tarshish; But you would rather:

Be a well known speaker, TV or radio show host. An engineer working for a fortune 500 company. “Minister?! Please, I’m not trying to be broke!” you say. Get a recording contract singing secular songs. “Everyone in the business knows that’s where the money is!” Be a New York Best Selling Author, an instructor at a university or something else “normal”. Use your skill set to serve the well-to-do. The ones you know can afford you. “Shoot! Everybody knows Christian folks always acting like they’re broke! I can’t be giving my time and resources away for free. Just because we go to the same church – they expecting to get a ‘hook up!” you tell yourself. Make money – lot’s of it! Have fancy titles and recognition. Go on what you can see instead of what you don’t see; to make a detour.

Running away from God and what He has asked us to do is rebelling against him. Has God ever told you to “go here” or “do that,” but instead you “go there” and “do what?” Jonah’s running led him 2500 miles away from Nineveh, where God had instructed him to go from the beginning. However, God’s direction was only 550 miles to Nineveh. See the difference? God’s way was shorter. Warning – God’s way may not always be the easiest, greatest and happiest choice; but ultimately, it will be the best choice.

Now, not only did Jonah have to cover the 2500 miles he traveled (or was going to travel) to Tarshish, but the original 550 miles to his original destination. It gives the saying “If I had only listened…” a whole new meaning, doesn’t it? Are you paying a high price for your Tarshish trip?

When are you going to start doing what is right? Jonah had to get swallowed by a whale before he repented. He had nowhere else to go. He was all out of options. His only help was from above, God. He prayed, hard. For three days and nights. Calling, begging, pleading.

Are you willing to experience that? Experience God allowing circumstances to get so hard for you that, you run to Him instead of away from him?

God is a God of second chances. When you move, then God will act. Don’t let your rebellious spirit shipwreck your life. God will not change His mind because you want him to. Change your mind and attitude to do His will. Ultimately, you have a choice in how you get to your Nineveh. But whatever it takes, God will get His work done. “You can go to Nineveh yourself, or God can take you there.” Believe me; it is much easier if you obey the first time around!
bride and groom gifts

A king who revered and honoured the Lord God in every way in Judah called on the great God Jehovah through Isaiah the prophet of God. Judah needed God’s intervention to escape the coming Assyrian armies’ takeover.

God answered and sent the armies back to their land after his Angel killed 185,000 of their soldiers in one night. That is One Angel, one night, one enemy beaten. Wow!

33By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

34For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

35And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

36So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

37And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

This history is told in the Holy Bible in the second book of Kings, chapters 18 and 19. A huge lesson is to be learned here.

Why did God help Judah and not Israel this time? He found no idol worship in Judah nor any other god being consulted. Judah was clean before Him. Judah was following God alone. Israel had been taken captive because it served other so called gods as well as the true and living God Jehovah.

In Canada, U.S.A., and other christian countries we are as Israel was at that time. We have accepted foreign gods whith anti-Christ ways and called it freedom of religion. Idiots is the only term that comes to mind! Our countries were established on the foundation of Christianity. One God, the Great Jehovah, one teaching, one church of Jesus Christ.

Now we wonder why so many nasty things are allowed to happen to us in our nations by the Lord our God, the True and Living One. HELLO!

Warning signs are all around us. We must get back to the God of the Bible, the God of Israel, Isaac, Abraham and all the wonderful prophets of the Lord. God will not share His glory, His countries, His nation.

Was 9/11 not a wake up call for all of us? Is New Orleans and all the terrible weather not enough to stir us to repentance? We must expel all other teachings and idols and enemy religions before we are taken over by wicked forces and destroyed. Stop the insanity!

The enemy has infiltrated our lands with the guise of new found freedom in Christian societies. Sin abounds and grace abounds much more so far, but our God is a jealous One, a consuming fire and our time is running out to call on Him and have us answered. When He checks us out what does He see? We must act quickly and send out the message throughout our christian based countries. ‘Serve the true and living God or leave our lands.’

Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. Do we want the Angel of the Lord on our side or on the enemies’ side. God will use them to cleanse His countries. Fast, pray, repent, expel the enemies of God the Lord, the Great Jehovah.
automated blogs
